Baby Audio Tekno Update adds a Sequencer
Recently I reviewed Baby Audio’s Tekno, a fun drum synth plugin with a few nifty drum engines. My biggest request was for a built in sequencer which they have now added. The new sequencer is fairly simple, 16 steps with adjustable velocity and 32nd note rolls available.
Each voice has its own random chance slider and playback speeds; 0.5X, 1X, and 2X. This is a pretty minimal sequencer, I’d love to see motion for drum settings, longer lengths and more, but this is definitely more than enough to work with and get started.
I am happy to see that polymeters are possible, this is done with slightly obscure UI, a “stop” icon is used to set the end point of any voice’s sequencer, instead of a draggable sequencer length handle.
You can also drag the pattern out to your DAW as midi which is always a nice touch.
There’s more in the update which you can read about on CDM: https://cdm.link/tekno-11/
I’m mostly interested in the sequencer, I’ll update my review to reflect this new addition soon.
