Dawesome has updated Myth to version 1.7, adding 13 new effects. Many new effects modules have been introduced in the various Dawesome releases since Myth. These modules have all been added to Myth, expanding its capabilities quite a bit. It’s really cool to see this stuff make it’s way back into Myth. I think the modular nature of Myth thrives on expanded flexibility, each new module brings new modulation combinations and added sound design potential.
The new modules include: maximizer, limiter, compressor, split eq, dual delay, reverse delay, tape, pulse gate, mal-sync, plate reverb, brute, gate, and auto pan.
The new mixing tools will really help add a lot of polish to presets, I particularly appreciate the maximizer and split eq which will let me clean things up quite a bit. The reverse delay and plate reverb add some more ambient flavors to the mix. While a noise gate might not seem like an obvious effect for a synth, they can have some fun sound design potential. Speaking of gates, the pulse gate opens up some really fun textural sound design.
Tape will also be great for adding subtle distortion and texture. I think I’m most excited about mal-sync, a really fun distortion introduced in Hate, this will be fun for basses and leads. Finally the star of the show, brute is an entirely new module. The “brute” control was introduced in Abyss 2, but this new module has four additional controls opening up a variety of new distortion and “brutal” t shaping.
Also the top preset browser is updated to match the newer Dawesome plugins, giving Myth more of a polished feel. I’m very happy to see Myth receive this update. Expanding the module count quite a bit brings some fresh new life into it and inspires me to work on a new preset pack. I’m curious to see what will come next for Myth which is still probably the most powerful Dawesome plugin.
