SAND Review (FREE Distortion)

Sand is a free distortion effect from Hvoya Audio. Actually, Sand is described as a “differential compander” via the hyova Audio website, so “distortion” might not accurately describe what is happening here, but the effect adds a lot of cool texture and harmonics like a distortion. Sand adds very bright texture to the sound, bringing out the subtle tones and noise that are otherwise nearly silent. THis is the perfect tool for adding top end brightness to a signal.

I’m not particularly sure what basically any of the controls do, and unfortunately the cool mandala isn’t its own control, but I think you can get away with just tweaking a couple dials and finding something nice to work with sometimes. My only complaint is that the knobs all have weird UI, with some changing thickness as you adjust them and another control having a weird off-center pivot point, but it’s not too bad and the plugin still looks nice. Definitely grab this one as it’s free.
