MANUFACTURED is a collection of over 1,000 samples recorded from five hand made metal instruments. These instruments cover a range of metallic sounds and were all designed to be filled with water for expressive gestures.

Samples are recorded in 16bit 44.1khz through a pair of LOM USI pro microphones into a UAD Volt interface using the built in compressor for enhancement. No further processing is used on any recording, all samples are delivered as is with no additional EQ, reverb, compression, etc.

THE INSTRUMENTS
SCRAP HAMMERS
Two “scrap hammers” are made up of a large hollow box with various ribbons of scrap metal and a large handle
WATERPHONES
Two waterphones make up the bulk of this collection
The tines were sampled being plucked, struck with a rubber mallet, struck with the wood end of the mallet and struck with metal.
Each waterphone was also bowed with expressive gestures to produce warping metallic tones that would feel right at home in a horror movie.
These instruments bend and warp when filled with water.
MELODIC BOX
The final instrument is a small hollowed box with seven tines arranged similarly to a kalimba. These tines are not tuned to any system, but produce interesting melodic content when plucked.
