Zebra 3 Public Beta Announced

Zebra 3 public beta has been officially released today. Likely one of the most anticipated software synthesizer updates is in its final stages. Zebra 3 adds the new oscillator from Zebralette 3, new MSEGs, and reworked filters and effects all in the same workflow and package familiar to previous users of Zebra. The UI has a more modernized style which is a nice update, but I’m hoping they bring back the light skin they introduced in Zebralette 3, as I’d love to see this Zebra interface in that theme.

Zebra 3 is a complete re-write of Zebra, so presets are not backwards compatible, but it will show up as a new plugin “Zebra 3” alongside your previous copy of Zebra so you wont lose anything. Modules have been consolidated to remove clutter and redundancy, this is something I am very happy to see. While it’s nice to have dozens of different modules, I think it’s better to just keep things like filters together as a single module for organization’s sake

There is a lot of stuff packed into Zebra already, and this update appears to add a lot more. It sounds like there’s even potential for an arpeggiator or sequencer to be added some time after release. I think this will be an incredibly powerful synth for sound designers and musicians. This year brought us many updates to classic synths now, Serum 2, Absynth 6, and now Zebra 3. I personally feel a bit overwhelmed with so much coming out all at once, but it is also exciting for so much new stuff to learn and explore
