Expressive-E Announces OSMOSE Controller Edition

Expressive-E are releasing a controller version of their Osmose keyboard. This version will come bundled with software so you can get some sounds out of the box, but unlike the original Osmose, it does not produce sounds of its own. I’ve owned an Osmose for a couple years now, using it primarily as an MPE Midi controller. The CE or Controller Edition comes in white, and I kinda wish they went all out and made even the black keys white, for a cool “snowed-out” aesthetic. Hell, I wish I could get black key caps for my osmose for a sleeker look.

As mentioned, this new controller version does not produce audio of its own and instead comes with the CTRL-E software which hosts various plugins and comes with over 900 presets. Obviously it is also is being offered at a reduced price at around $1,000, which is still not a cheap keyboard, but enough of a price difference to get a small computer or maybe some software. One cool thing I noticed from the product demo is the ability to use the built in encoders as midi macros, I really hope this comes to the original as I’m always wanting to utilize the macros from my presets without moving my hand over to my mouse.

It looks like this will be coming soon, so I think I’ll finally get to work on my Osmose review which I’ll likely publish when the CE version drops if you’re interested in my thoughts on it as a controller
